A woman’s wedding day is supposed to be the happiest day of her life and one time when she shouldn’t feel as if anything is more important than her, especially money. But, in reality, weddings can cost an awful lot of money and most of us do have to stick to some kind of a budget in order to get through the wedding with just a few pennies left in our pockets. With the price of an average American wedding just about to hit $20,000, is it possible that you could be happy with a low budget wedding?
Throwing low budget weddings can be a tad difficult. When couples start to cut corners on their weddings, it is not unusual that fights will start to erupt. She wants lots of flowers, but he wants alcohol for all the guests. She wants an expensive dress but he wants to put mom and dad up in an expensive hotel. It is hard to accommodate everyone’s needs and that is one reason that if you are going to attempt to have a budget wedding that you start your budget early.
The best thing to do, before you get to deep into the planning stages, is to sit down with your partner and determine what are the most important parts of your wedding. If the reception is the most important, then try and cut out other parts. If you both agree that what you wear and the photographs are more important, then you may have to cut back on the flowers or the wedding reception food and drink.
Having a low budget wedding should not be embarrassing, it should be empowering and something to be proud of. Every penny you save on your wedding can be put forward into your life together – to buy a house, pay off student loans, or save for the baby.
