We have all seen a wedding in a movie or on television, or have been guests at big, extravagant weddings. They are huge affairs in large churches or halls, followed by an enormous reception and gifts and a band and dancing, and too much alcohol. The price of a big wedding like that, even if it is just for 50 or so people, can cost more than the average car, and more than the down payment on a house. Not a lot of people really have that much money to spend on a wedding, and you shouldn’t have to, because you can arrange budget weddings that are still beautiful, meaningful, and memorable.
The quickest and easiest way to cut down on your wedding is not by hiring a budget wedding planner (although that’s a good idea, too!) but by limiting the number of guests. Just because you once worked with someone does not mean that they need to come to your wedding and that you should buy them an expensive dinner! Just because your second cousin invited you to his wedding 20 years ago (and you haven seen him since) doesn’t mean you have to invite him to yours. Be realistic about your guest list if budget weddings are important to you. The price of the meal and alcohol that you are serving each guest could be over $100 each, so watch out!
Yes, there is something romantic about dancing your first dance to the sounds of a band, playing up on a stage, but is it worth thousands of dollars? No! People who are going for budget weddings generally save a lot of money by hiring wedding dj’s and putting together a list of songs that they love – wedding dj music will be far more meaningful than a band playing songs that they like. These are just two ways that you can save a huge amount on your wedding and keep it under budget.
